In this tutorial, I will teach you how to do sculpting in Blender. First of all, in order to begin sculpting, I would recommend you to click this option: Sculpting. It will give you a quad sphere with many sculpting features on the bottom (Blender 4.4 version). If you use previous version, these features will be on the left. I would recommend you to turn on symmetry, which is located in this part of the screen. It will enable you to make a symmetrical model for your character, but if you want some other kind of model, like a game asset that you want to have in your scene, you can also sculpt without symmetry. When you click and drag on your model, you will be sculpting some part of the mesh and the mesh will look like this. The + and - signs are the options for adding or subtracting the mesh. Now I need to teach you some basic shortcuts: when you press shift on your keyboard, you can smooth some parts of the model and make it look cleaner, by pressing ctrl you can switch between add and subtract, think about it like digging a hole or stacking the land to the top. Sculpting is a technique that can be performed in many ways, so this video contains the best explanation for making a beginner friendly sculpture. In this tutorial, I will teach you how to use PlayerPrefs save system in Unity. First of all, you need to add a canvas that will have a Text object, along with a Button. The text object will be a value, by default it will be set to 0. The button will be interactable and will increase or decrease the value. There will also be two buttons, that will be used for saving and loading. When you create those two elements, you need to create a C# script. Just add it in the Canvas object and name it SaveSystem. In the void Start you need to add an if statement. This statement checks if there is a key named scorevalue. to make playerprefs system do anything to the project, you need to assign it to the score value. The score value will be called in a PlayerPrefs.GetInt, which is the method that will be used for loading the value from the saving system. PlayerPrefs, on the other hand, has many other ways to communicate with data in Unity. It is very practical for a project that keeps a small amount of data, such as current level, highscore and lives count for your player, but is also useful to save game settings such as music volume. PlayerPrefs has some additional features such as DeleteKey, which deletes a specific key from a project until it is created again, DeleteAll for deleting all keys and values that exist in a project. This saving system has three ways of saving data: Save, which is used for saving all preferences, setfloat, for saving a float value, setInt, for saving an integer value and setstring, for saving a single string value. I would recommend you to use JSON saving system if you are working on a bigger project, since it is more practical for larger data files and can work better if you have to save positions, items, and various objects that are not supported in PlayerPrefs saving system. PlayerPrefs Save & Load System in Unity - Tutorial
In this tutorial, I will teach you how to add modifiers to your 3D model in Blender. In the previous video, I was talking about some 3D modeling basics, shortcuts and useful tips that can make 3D modeling faster. Now it's time for something different: let's add some modifiers to the 3D model! Add a cube and go to modifiers. The first modifier that I will be talking about is the Subdivision Surface. It is a modifier that adds some subdivisions to the faces. It makes the faces look smoother and if you want to add more smoothness, just click here and you will add more subdivision levels, which can increase the number of vertices. Be careful: if you increase it too much, it will cause performance issues because of a huge number of vertices. For that reason, I don't recommend you to set levels viewport setting to a number larger than two. The next modifier I want to show you is the mirror modifier. Go to modifiers and add mirror. Here you can set different axes, by default it is set to X. You have to rotate your viewport so that X axis is on the right in order to mirror your model to the X axis. You can also try with other axes just to experiment with mirror modeling, but I would recommend you to keep X axis. You can mirror your model over an object - mirror object. this is useful if you want to make a character (which will be explained in one of my following videos) because you want the body parts to be symmetrical. You can also use the eyedropper tool to find a 3D object that you want your object to be mirrored. There are also more modifiers in this tutorial, so you can use this video to learn more about some useful modifiers for your 3D model. I have also planned to make more tutorials for modeling, rigging, sculpting and remeshing, including tutorials for texturing and UV mapping. 3D Modeling in Blender - Tutorial for Beginners
If you want to spawn game objects on screen tap in Unity, this tutorial is for you! First of all, I have configured my space shooter project with a player that can rotate according to mouse position. The only thing I haven't included in my previous video is how to disable gravity. This tutorial includes parts that can show you how to disable gravity in order to spawn bullets without any gravity, since the game is a top down shooter. After that, the next part that I need to show you is how to spawn bullets on screen tap. You need to go to your input actions asset and add a Primary Touch Position action. If you encounter a wrong player direction, you need to add an invoke that will call the function that spawns the bullets. The wall collider that I included in this video is just experimental, I suggest you to add animation for the bullet that will scale it instead of destroying it. How do you spawn objects at different directions in unity? In the previous video, I have configured the player to be rotated towards mouse position. I have also realized that the image of the player object is rotated 90 degrees, so I have put Z-rotation to 90 degrees. A cool feature that I want to add is the ability to shoot objects at different directions. In order to do that, you have to add a new C# script, that will contain some parts of an already existing script, but will be used specifically for the object that rotates towards mouse position. Additional tip: put the line rb2d.gravityScale = 0; before the line that says rb2d.AddForce() and that will disable the gravity of the spawned objects. This script will have the same parts like in one of the previous tutorials, but unlike the previous script for shooting, it won't have the transform rotate because the object will be rotated according to mouse position. So, let's move on to the next part: You need to add these three components: a spawn position, prefab and shooting speed. These three are very important, because you need to spawn an object at a specific position and at a specific speed. In this tutorial, I will teach you how to rotate your player towards mouse position in Unity. This is a 2D shooting game project that I have explained in one of my previous tutorials. I want to make my player rotate in a slightly different way: by moving the mouse. This is the third tutorial in space shooter in Unity series. First, you need to add a new scene that will only have a player and a camera. Since the first scene contains a player and a circle object, the player is positioned above the circle and rotates around it, just like a satellite goes around a planet. Unlike the first scene, the player in this scene will be positioned to the center. You can add it simply by adding a 2D object. Go to 2D Object / Sprites and you can select any object you want. I will pick a triangle, so it will be considered a player object. You need to add a script that will be very simple. If you want to move your player by swiping the screen in Unity, this tutorial is for you. This tutorial is primarily for endless runner movement, so it will be perfect if you have an endless runner game in Unity. I have configured my player to be moved by arrow keys. But if you want to play this game on a touchscreen device, you will most likely want to add swipe controls to your player, because they are very practical if you don't want on screen controls. The best way to do is to disable your first script for player movement and add a new C# script. The next thing you should do is to open your InputActions asset and add a new action. Name it Swipe and set its control type to any value. Now you have to add a binding that will be set to Delta [Pointer] because when you touch the screen, Unity registers your touch as a pointer. How do you save your game progress between scenes in Unity? After finishing the integration of your saving system in Unity, the thing that you might notice is that it only works in one scene. You are curious how to make multiple levels and ensure that the saving system will save your player's position, health, score and even the level scene in which the progress is saved. Just like the previous tutorial, this tutorial also uses JSON like in the Save Game in Unity video that was posted in April 2024. If you want to make a level system for your game in Unity, you will need to open your level loader script. This C# script contains the if-statement that checks if you have a sufficient amount of coins. You also need to add a static int that will describe your current level. The level value will be connected to the Scene Manager. What does that mean? In the load level script, for the integer that defines your current level, you need to make sure that it is checked in the void which contains a system of levels. If the value is 0, it means you are on the first level. case 0 will consist of only one line: scenemanager.loadscene("SampleScene"). If the level value is 1, then it should load the second level, it will have SceneTwo inside the LoadScene() function. This scene is just a duplicate of the SampleScene, with some small differences. You can also add multiple levels, but that will make the level system even more complex. Now it is time for the saving system. Go to player data and add public int level. Save the script and go to Player Data Manager. Make sure that you put the level value into the playerData. For introduction, you should use LevelLoader.level in order to make it work properly. How to Save Level Progress in Unity 3D!
If you make a game in Unity and use New Input System for player movement, you might notice that, every time you want to restart your game after game over, the game is frozen due to Time.timeScale is set to 0. This can easily be fixed by going to your player's script and adding a public void inside the game manager, which is designed to restart your game and all its values. For restarting a game in Unity, you need to bring TimeScale back to 1 and bring all values that were default before the game is over. If you have some complex data, like scores, coin counts and lives, make sure to reset them to their defaults. You also need to make sure that New Input System requires OnEnable and OnDisable, because that makes the input enabled when the game is playing and disabled when the game is over. It should also remain disabled before entering the main game screens and in that case, the input system will be defined correctly. Just make sure to implement the scripts in the way as it is explained in order to avoid any issues. 2D Platformer in Unity - Timescale Bug with New Input System
In this video, I will teach you how to make a space shooter in Unity. It is a sequel to the previous tutorial, but it includes some additional parts, like how to add a bullet shooting feature and how to make a better movement for the rotating object. To make a space shooter, you need to create a bullet object that will also be a triangle, but will be smaller. You should set its color to white in order to make it clearly visible. But that is not sufficient! You also need a spawn object, and the triangle bullet should have a 2D rigidbody. Make sure to make a prefab of this object. Now you should go back to the C# script: Add a reference to the game object - call it arrowObject. Add a public transform spawnObject and the last thing you need to have is a shooting speed, which is a float. Drag the prefab and add the shooting speed. As you can see, the prefab does not spawn well. It does not have the required gravity direction. To fix that, go to script and add Physics.gravity to the spawnObject.forward and change force mode to force. This will apply gravity to different rotations of the triangle.
